- 1971Premier Ross Thatcher formally opens the Weyburn distillery in May 1971.
- 1973Management reports rising sales, 31,700 barrels produced in the prior year, and the addition of two new warehouses.
- 1974Standard Brands, through LJ McGuinness, buys 87.5 percent of the distillery on February 15, 1974.
- 1976Bulk export shipments to Fleischmann's in Illinois encourage a new $4.5 million expansion plan.
- 1977With warehouses filling and too much whisky on hand, management shuts down distilling for at least four months while bottling continues.
