- 1757Known as the Brusna distillery, reputed to date back to 1757; later Locke's.
- 1843John Locke took over the business in the 1840s and extended it (sons John Edward and James H. Locke).
- 1893Converted into a limited company; prospered until the late-1920s depression.
- 1947Directors decided to sell, triggering the famous 'Locke's distillery scandal' - a three-man syndicate of aliens, Dail allegations of political patronage and a black-market plot for 60,000 gallons; Taoiseach de Valera ordered a judicial tribunal (6 Nov 1947) which found no foundation for the allegations.
- 1953Closed down amid the economic recession.
