1960Hombo enters whisky-making in Yamanashi using Taketsuru's notes and the legacy of Kijiro Iwai's plans.
1969The Yamanashi whisky operation closes after its smoky old-style profile fails to fit the domestic market.
1978Hombo tries again in Kagoshima, making small volumes of whisky on new miniature stills.
1985Mars opens at Shinshu, using the original Yamanashi stills and aiming for a lighter, fruitier style.
1992Mars Shinshu closes as the Japanese whisky market turns away from whisky.
2011The distillery reopens and begins rebuilding production, stock and technique almost from zero.
2017The site moves toward the name 'Mars Shinshu' in place of the older 'Shinshu Mars' usage.
