- 1960Hombo enters whisky-making in Yamanashi using Taketsuru's notes and the legacy of Kijiro Iwai's plans.
- 1969The Yamanashi whisky operation closes after its smoky old-style profile fails to fit the domestic market.
- 1978Hombo tries again in Kagoshima, making small volumes of whisky on new miniature stills.
- 1985Mars opens at Shinshu, using the original Yamanashi stills and aiming for a lighter, fruitier style.
- 1992Mars Shinshu closes as the Japanese whisky market turns away from whisky.
- 2011The distillery reopens and begins rebuilding production, stock and technique almost from zero.
- 2017The site moves toward the name 'Mars Shinshu' in place of the older 'Shinshu Mars' usage.
