  1. 1934Masataka Taketsuru establishes Yoichi after leaving Kotobukiya, choosing Hokkaido for climate, water, peat and agricultural potential.
  2. 1966The first major expansion changes parts of the original setup, including the point up to which certain older direct-fired methods were retained.
  3. 1970Around the 1970s, routine cutting of local Ishikari peat for production stops as growth outstrips on-site capacity.
  4. 2014The NHK drama 'Massan' triggers a renewed boom in Nikka and Yoichi interest.
  5. 2015Visitor numbers reach roughly one million as the 'Massan effect' compounds already strong demand.
